Window and Patio Door Project in Mississauga – From White to Modern Black

Window and Patio Door Project in Mississauga – From White to Modern Black

We recently completed a window and patio door replacement project in Mississauga, and it came out great.

The house originally had white windows and sliding patio doors installed on a white brick exterior.
On the inside, the jambs and extensions weren’t directly attached to the old windows—most likely they were added later.
That gave us the opportunity to preserve the existing interior work and complete everything from the outside.
In the windows and doors industry, this approach is often referred to as a split frame or hybrid installation.

The customer wanted a more modern look and decided to go with black windows and black patio doors.
To keep the outdoor view as open as possible, the larger windows were installed as fixed units with no frames between—
this really gave the home a clean, uninterrupted view. The smaller windows were done as casement windows
to allow for good airflow and ventilation.

Instead of using the typical 3 1/4” residential frame, we upgraded to a
4 9/16” slim commercial profile. It’s thinner, just as strong, and looks incredibly sharp.
The frame is clean—no extra grooves or detailing—just a simple, modern style that works beautifully with the home’s new black exterior.
Both fixed and operational windows now have the same frame thickness, keeping everything looking neat and consistent.

The homeowner also qualified for the federal Greener Homes Loan, which helped finance the entire project
with 0% interest over 10 years. On top of that, they applied through a local Ontario window rebate program
and received $100 back per window and door opening.

All the new windows are triple glazed with double Low-E coating—one layer on the outside
and one on the inside. The center pane is clear glass. This combo provides great solar control throughout the seasons,
plus it boosts noise reduction and overall energy efficiency.

The before-and-after photos really say it all. You can clearly see the transformation from the original white frames
to the sleek black window frames after installation. It’s a huge upgrade in both style and performance.
