A new window installation might be all your property needs

If you count your windows as an investment, a leading survey by Remodeling Magazine says it could fetch you a whopping 83% return on investment. And that’s because nothing improves on the curb appeal of your home like a properly installed set of windows. Let’s help you find the perfect window fit for your home or property.

What you need to know before making the decision

The type of window design you finally settle with has a lot to do with the style of your home more than anything else. That said, here are some things you should be considering;

Operating style

This is mainly dependent on where the window is going to be located and the function it’s intended to serve. Sliding horizontal windows are ideal for kitchens since they let in a lot of light and are relatively easy to open. Awning windows are what you’d want if proper ventilation is a need must.

Double hung windows are the easiest to clean. And if space is an issue, the natural choice would be casement windows.

Curb appeal

Different window installations come with different outlook, ergo different curb appeal. It’s also important to note that achieving a perfect looking window installation is not merely a function of how good looking the window is by itself, it’s also reliant on how well they fit with your current architecture. Older homes favor more traditional looking windows with smaller panes. Newer property, on the other hand, do well with patio themed window installations

Safety

If security is a major concern, your best bet would be to stick with awning and casement window installations. These are harder to breach when locked, plus they provide excellent ventilation too.

In rooms where children will stay, shatterproof tempered windows are a reasonable choice. It also makes sense for them to be double hung windows, especially when you’re dealing with children bedrooms.
